Eliminating unnecessary expenses from design, testing, production, operations, procedures, accounting, conservation, and other areas is the best course of action. The purpose of the paper's initial investigation was to list the drawbacks of value engineering in product creation. These transgressions highlight the necessity for alternative methods when implementing value engineering techniques. To address critical inverse issues throughout the process, from the stage of product demand analysis to product design, product, and operation, value engineering is combined with various engineering methods. The results demonstrate that there are distinct paths in which the benefit of integration engineering using QFD or DFA may be used. Even so, this integration is providing a better option for the planning of products or services through a process that not only means providing a better value for client satisfaction but also lowers expenses, shortening development times, and reducing the need for rework conditions—all without compromising performance, reducing anxiety, or lowering the quality of the final product.
Handa Rivaldi Husal, Rosnani Ginting, Anizar Anizar Copyright (c) 2024 TALENTA Publisher Universitas Sumatera Utara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/11901 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Methodology and Its Application: A Literature Review https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/12158
This study aims to investigate and analyze several previous works of relevant literature on the Lean Manufacturing technique in international journals. A process for the system evaluation was developed using the pertinent framework, Macroergonomic Analysis and Design (MEAD). Using the MEAD framework, the system may be assessed more completely overall, and any conflicts can be resolved to fully harmonize the system. A thematic analysis of papers addressing macroergonomic analysis and design (MEAD) is the methodology used in this study. To successfully complete a research project using this methodology, ten steps must be followed. The ten steps are as follows: examining the subsystem of organizational and environmental design; identifying the type of manufacturing system and establishing performance benchmarks; outlining work procedures and unit operations; detecting variances; generating the matrix of variances; establishing the role network and key variance control table; allocating functions and designing jointly; recognizing the views of roles and responsibilities; creating and modifying interfaces and supporting subsystems; putting into practice, refining, and upgrading.
Nahdah Fadhilah, Abdul Rahim Matondang, Anizar Anizar Copyright (c) 2024 TALENTA Publisher Universitas Sumatera Utara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/12878 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Hierarchical Control Planning Based on the Film 'Avatar: The Way of Water' to Minimize Work Accidents Among Fishermen https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/13571
Cultivating health and occupational safety among fishermen can involve various strategies, such as reviewing movies for insights. These films serve as reflections of the relevance to the cultural aspects of fishermen's health and safety, contributing to the Health and Occupational Safety Triangle or Hierarchy Control. Hierarchy Control, a sequential risk reduction process, encompasses elimination, substitution, design, administration, and personal protective equipment (PPE). The study aims to reduce or eliminate work accidents for fishermen, utilizing planning hierarchy control with an approach involving Macro Ergonomics, Semiotics, and the Fogg Behavior Model. Findings identify a minimal health and safety culture during service, leading to the design of three hierarchy controls: Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for machines and equipment (administrative control), ship closures for noise reduction (engineering controls), and the implementation of Personal Protective Equipment. However, elimination and substitution remain challenging to implement in daily service activities.
Dinda Okta Dwiyanti Ridwan Gucci, Muhammad Adi Sukma Nalendra; Prisilia Cahaya Putri Sarena, Yohaneis Saleh Copyright (c) 2024 TALENTA Publisher Universitas Sumatera Utara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/13571 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Integration of Lean Six Sigma and Ergonomics in Internal Logistics in the Supply Chain – A Systematic Literature https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/13743
Today's most significant challenge facing the industry is delivering good quality products quickly, at the lowest possible cost, and flexibly in meeting demand. In terms of timing accuracy, companies must have good internal logistics, one of which is good warehouse management. Productivity in warehouses can be achieved by improving efficiency in warehouse operations, thus resulting in a faster response to customer requests. In improving productivity, it is necessary first to identify unexpected activity. This study demonstrates the importance of applying Lean Six Sigma (LSS) in Supply Chain Management (SCM), particularly internal logistics in the warehouse area, by linking the ergonomics principle with the systematic literature review approach. LSS and ergonomics are mutually complementary methodologies to meet the challenges of SCM in order to have a competitive advantage in business.
Virarey Mayang, Markus Hartono, Amelia Santoso Copyright (c) 2024 TALENTA Publisher Universitas Sumatera Utara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/13743 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0700 A Trust Model for Electrical Stove Technology Acceptance of Indonesian Stereotype https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/14270
The surge in LPG consumption within Indonesian households, coupled with stagnant LPG production, has compelled the government to import 75% of LPG by 2022. Despite initial plans for a transition to electric stoves in 2023, the program was halted due to widespread public resistance to electric stove technology. The rejection was attributed, in part, to low trust in this emerging technology, emphasizing the pivotal role of trust in influencing technological acceptance. In response, this research endeavors to construct a robust and reliable model capturing trust in the acceptance of electric stove technology. Utilizing the PLS Structural Equation Model method for data analysis, the focus centers on two trust indicators: propensity trust and human-machine trust. In the quest for a valid model, the statistical modeling technique considers five initial hypotheses developed with 32 trust-related items. Upon analysis, one hypothesis is rejected, while four are accepted. Notably, the trust human-machine (THM) variable emerges as a significant influencer of trust for electric stove technology (TTK), substantiated by a path coefficient of 0.917 and p = <0.001. Thus, the resulting model takes on a reflective form, offering insights into the intricate dynamics of trust in the acceptance of electric stove technology.
Nofias Fajri, Andi Velahyati Baharuddin, Dimas Akmarul Putera, Firdhani Faujiyah Copyright (c) 2024 TALENTA Publisher Universitas Sumatera Utara https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/14270 Mon, 29 Jan 2024 00:00:00 +0700 Revenue Management Strategies in Airline Industry: A Literature Review https://talenta.usu.ac.id/jsti/article/view/14363
The airline industry has rapidly evolved, fostering intense competition among companies.
