This research focuses on discussing oversharing behavior from the perspective of a critical study of Herbert Marcuse's thinking, namely one-dimensional human theory. The research method used was a literature study, by collecting data related to Herbert Marcuse's thoughts and oversharing behavior. The research results showed that oversharing behavior is by the characteristics of a one-dimensional society mentioned by Herbert Marcuse, namely that; First, society is under the power of technological principles with the many choices of social media which have become a forum for oversharing. Second, modern society has become irrational as a whole, due to the unity between productivity and destructiveness, oversharing behavior subconsciously requires spending time checking what has been posted on social media.
Fadilla Reyza

The informants of this study were six families with the criteria of parents / guardians who have daughters / sons who live in Damai Village, North Binjai District, Binjai City, have never been recorded as perpetrators of sexual violence or victims of sexual violence and live in the same house with their children. The results showed that in preventing sexual violence against children, families in Damai Village, North Binjai District, Binjai City carried out a balanced split pattern of communication. The forms of messages used in preventing child sexual abuse are informative and persuasive. Factors that make family communication effective in preventing child sexual abuse in Kelurahan Damai are the surrounding environment. The local government actively educates the community about the prevention of sexual violence against children and the high level of concern of the surrounding community for child protection, which can be seen from the existence of self-help movements such as the Anak Damai Mengaji movement, the Al-Ma'un Orphan Care Community, and the last one is forming a women's case assistance team. The main obstacle to family communication in preventing sexual violence against children is psychological noise. They tend to feel taboo talking about things related to sexuality between fathers and daughters or mothers and sons.

Keywords: Communication Patterns, Family, Sexual Violence
Lia RianiMazdalifahDewi Kurniawati

https://talenta.usu.ac.id/komunika/article/view/18102

This article discusses the self-concept of women after becoming single parents through four aspects of self-concept according to Berzonsky: physical, social, moral, and psychological. The phenomenon of divorce or the death of a husband often impacts the family's psychology, particularly the wife left behind. This study aims to analyze the self-concept of women after becoming single parents in the city of Jambi, using a qualitative method with a phenomenological approach and a snowball method for selecting informants. The informants are women who became single parents due to divorce or the death of their husbands. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and documentation, with triangulation techniques to ensure the validity of the data. The study results show that the self-concept of women after becoming single parents tends to be positive. The informants remain confident in their appearance, although they feel the need to maintain their behavior to avoid being misunderstood by others. Their relationship with their children tends to become closer, despite some initial adaptation problems. Spiritually, the informants feel the need to be closer to God and believe that they are strong and capable of supporting their children. Psychologically, most informants feel stressed and sad after separating from their husbands.
Nursalis MawaddahWelly Wirman

https://talenta.usu.ac.id/komunika/article/view/19782

This study aims to assess the effectiveness of the Roots Program in preventing bullying through the lens of the Two-Step Flow Communication Theory, emphasizing the role of student opinion leaders in influencing peer behavior and fostering a safer school environment. A qualitative research approach with an analytical descriptive method was used. Data were collected through in-depth interviews with three key informants: the school principal, a teacher facilitator, and a student anti-bullying agent. The findings indicate that the Roots Program has contributed to a noticeable reduction in bullying incidents by leveraging peer influence. Student opinion leaders played a crucial role in shaping anti-bullying norms through peer discussions, advocacy, and social modeling. The research highlights that students are more receptive to anti-bullying messages delivered by peers rather than institutional authorities, aligning with the Two-Step Flow Communication Theory. However, challenges such as ensuring active student participation and overcoming reluctance to report bullying remain significant obstacles. The study also found that institutional support, including teacher facilitation and collaboration with external organizations, enhances the effectiveness of peer-led interventions.
Maulana Andinata DalimuntheAulia Rahma RitongaSofiari Ananda

https://talenta.usu.ac.id/komunika/article/view/20339

This study aims to analyze how mimicry of patriarchal culture occurs through verbal violence against women on Instagram. Using Roland Barthes' semiotic method by analyzing the comments column in the form of verbal violence in the Instagram account @anneofficial1990, the research found that based on observations on the comment texts, the normalization of violence against women is the impact that occurs as a result of the entertainment media's spotlight on the account owner's decision to remove her hijab. The conclusion of this research is that mimicry occurs in the form of imitation of patriarchal culture and is manifested in verbal violence committed by women against other women. Women who are dominated by male masculinity in the real world try to make themselves as subjects through the arena on Instagram social media by oppressing other women through the comment section on Instagram. The myth found in this study is the myth of patriarchal culture, one of which is the assessment of women from the way they dress.
Sabilla Tri AnandaNurbani
