A key point of contention centers on the stark divergence of this policy from the transactional approach adopted during the previous Donald Trump administration. Concurrently, some factions contend that the exchange of Brittney Griner for Viktor Bout reflects a political agenda championed by the Democratic Party, thereby fostering the perception that liberal interests receive preferential treatment within the Joe Biden administration's cabinet. This research aims to examine the change in foreign policy paradigm in the United States and the impact of political parties in the context of the prisoner exchange between Brittney Griner and Viktor Bout. The exchange has garnered public attention as it raises questions about the shift in the United States' foreign policy approach and the influence of political parties in the decision-making process. This study adopts a qualitative approach by analyzing relevant sources such as academic literature, news reports, and official government statements. The findings reveal a paradigm shift in the United States' foreign policy during the Joe Biden administration. The transactional approach adopted by former President Donald Trump has been replaced by a values-based orientation and the nation's obligation to protect its citizens wherever they may be. The prisoner exchange between Griner, an American athlete, and Bout, a Russian detainee, serves as evidence of this change.
Ofel Abiwada Abimanyu Muhammad Indrawan Jatmika Copyright (c) 2024 Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-30 2024-07-30 16 2 60 65 10.32734/politeia.v16i2.14477 The Political Domination of Identity in Indonesian Political Controversy and Mitigation of Election 2024 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/politeia/article/view/14360
The political practice of identity in a political reality is indeed a matter of discretion, given that identity itself is inherent to man. Practices of identity politics potentially have two significant impacts: positive and negative. This study seeks to look at the political impact of identity on some of Indonesia's political contestation experiences and provide constructive advice to mitigate something similar in the forthcoming 2024 elections. This research is qualitative and is accompanied by descriptive techniques of analysis by studying reference sources relevant to the research. The results of this study show that in the context of political controversy in Indonesia, identity politics has been shaped throughout the electoral momentum: Pilpres 2014, Pilkada DKI Jakarta 2019, and Pilpres 2019 were used as political strategies by hitting the identities of other candidates. The emergence of mainstream groups using religious symbols and provocative narratives as an attempt to catch the hearts of voters means that the course of electoral momentum tends to advance sentiment rather than argument. If identity politics continues to flourish, it will potentially give rise to fascism, separatism, and so on. To prevent the same from happening in the forthcoming 2024 elections, it would require mitigation efforts such as strengthening religious moderation, promoting political ethics and ideas of candidates, and increasing digital literacy for voters, so that the niche will create quality electoral processes and outcomes.
Pujangga Candrawijayaning Fajri Copyright (c) 2024 Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-30 2024-07-30 16 2 66 73 10.32734/politeia.v16i2.14360 Implikasi Kebijakan Penjualan Microchip Taiwan Dalam Pasar Ekonomi Global: Analisis Poliheuristik https://talenta.usu.ac.id/politeia/article/view/14493
In semiconductor-dependent times, Taiwan through its companies was able to lead global semiconductor production. This is due to the Taiwanese government that strongly supports the expansion of its semiconductor industry, especially in the global economic market. This article discusses the factors of the Taiwanese government to advance the semiconductor industry despite Taiwan's economic conditions that previously depended on the agricultural sector through polyheuristic analysis. This research uses a qualitative method with a case study type and data collection using the document study method with grounded theory analysis technique. This research discusses the implications of Taiwan's policies to develop its semiconductor industry in several aspects, such as economic, political, and environmental. The results that the author gets from this polyheuristic analysis are that Taiwan does need to develop its semiconductor industry in the global market because it can help the economy and national security. On the other hand, this policy also provides challenges, especially in the environmental sector. Waste from the semiconductor industry has a major impact on the environment, hence the need for increased semiconductor waste treatment by the Taiwanese government
Adinda Ayu Melati Nugroho Putri Aprilia Sri Lestari Nadia Puspita Wijaya Rafli Alfaizi Hakim Copyright (c) 2024 Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-30 2024-07-30 16 2 74 81 10.32734/politeia.v16i2.14493 Studi Mazhab Frankfurt School Jurgen Habermas Dalam Diskursus Etika Politik Indonesia https://talenta.usu.ac.id/politeia/article/view/15048
This study seeks to identify two principles in Jurgen Habermas's discourse, namely Indonesian universal political ethics and Indonesian discourse political ethics. Done by implementing a qualitative description approach with the type of literature study. Data consists of documents that include books, journals, and relevant research results. The collected data will then be understood, recorded, and phrased and then analyzed by actualizing Habermas's discourse theory which contains (Universal Ethics) and (Discourse Ethics). So that conclusions can be drawn. This study states that in universal ethics, the formulation and implementation of the principles of universal political ethics Indonesia uses the philosophy of Pancasila because it is identified as the basis of the state and ideology of the Indonesian nation. Thus, all legal doctrines and legal political mechanisms in Indonesia need to contain the values contained in Pancasila. Meanwhile, discourse ethics states that the ethical principles of Indonesian discourse are carried out with the mechanism of the concept of democracy which focuses on a discourse in a public space. Therefore, the moral principles of ethics only need to be applied in the realm of legal systems and politics (Universal Ethics) not in the realm of democracy (Discourse Ethics). Because discourse upholds the principle of freedom, there is no intervention and does not require moral verification by all participants like universal ethics.
fikri nando Copyright (c) 2024 Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-30 2024-07-30 16 2 82 90 10.32734/politeia.v16i2.15048 Analisis Perilaku Memilih Pada Pemilih Pemula Menjelang Pemilu 2024 Melalui Penerapan Konsep Voting Advice Application https://talenta.usu.ac.id/politeia/article/view/14286
The 2024 election moment is an opportunity for voting advice applications (VAA) to help them making wise political choices since it will be filled with many first-time voters. However, the development of VAA in Indonesia requires an understanding of voting behavior in order to be able to provide appropriate advice to users. For this reason, this research aims to determine the voting behavior of first-time voters so that VAA developers will gain a good understanding of the needs of first-time voters in making political choices by distributing national survey and focus group discussion to first-time voters. This research finds that VAA succeeds in presenting willingness to vote, discuss, and act on their first-time voter users, who also have more dominant rational voting behavior despite their low level of knowledge, liking, and urge to vote towards political parties. Corruption eradication, gender, and education issues are the main concerns of first-time voters. Hopefully, the more appropriate VAA works to the issue preferences of first-time voters, the more it will encourage the creation of well-informed choice voters in Indonesia.
Meyta Elisabeth Malau M. For things that can be calculated, research institutions can be used as a method to find out political dynamics and phenomena, where this can be used as a reference and prediction regarding a political situation in the future, one of which is in terms of measuring political electability by either an individual or an institution. In this case, research institutions have a very important role in producing information about political electability accompanied by data and facts that occur in the field so that it can be said that research institutions can provide objective and factual references. One of the data that can be used as a reference for electability is voter data from a candidate or political party in an electoral district.
Salwa Nazhira Copyright (c) 2024 Politeia: Jurnal Ilmu Politik https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0 2024-07-30 2024-07-30 16 2 100 107 10.32734/politeia.v16i2.13682 Demokrasi, Governance, dan Oligarki: Konglomerasi Media MNC Group Keterlibatannya Melancarkan Capres Ganjar Pranowo Pada Pemilu 2024 https://talenta.usu.ac.id/politeia/article/view/14537
This article discusses the issue of the MNC group as oligarchic media and the news it displays only appears to be based on political interests.
