Abstract

Black soldier fly (Hermetia illucens) is one of the insects that is useful to help reduce market wastes, agricultural wastes, food wastes. This study aims to determine the effect of market wastes, market wastes, agricultural wastes, and food wastes on the development and growth of H. illucens larvae. This research was conducted at the location of Maggot Medan Teratai (MMT). Bunga Teratai Street No.9 Padang Bulan, Kec. Medan Selayang, Medan, North Sumatra at an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level from December 2021 to April 2022. This study used a non-factorial completely randomized design (CRD) with 6 treatments, namely P1 (Fruits), P2 (Vegetables), P3 (Coconut Pulp), P4 (Coffee Grounds), P5 (Dregs Tofu) and P 6 (Corn Cob Dregs). The results showed that tofu dregs were the best for weight of H.illuscens was 4,05 – 7,25 g, length (1,20 – 2,20 cm) and width (0,40 – 0,60 mm).
