Abstract

The research aims to determine the relationship of the lands' physical characteristics (temperature, soil texture, soil moisture, slope, and planting direction) to the productivity of potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) at Karo Regency. The research was started from June 2021 to August 2021. This research was conducted using a survey method at 5 sub-districts (Berastagi, Merdeka, Kabanjahe, Tigapanah, Simpangempat) at Karo Regency using Stratified random sampling with potato productivity (low-high productivity) as consideration. The results showed that the physical characteristic of land (temperature, soil texture, soil moisture, slope, and planting direction) simultaneously affected potato productivity, 51% of potato productivity were affected by the characteristics of the land. Partially: temperature, slope, and soil moisture affect the potato productivity. Temperature and slope were positively correlated with potato productivity.
