Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of compost and foliar fertilizer on the growth and production of Deli tobacco. It was conducted at the Experimental Farm of the Agricultural Faculty, University of North Sumatera, Medan (± 25 m above sea level) began from August until October 2015. The research was arranged with factorial randomized block design with two factors, the first factor was compost (0 g/polybag, 300 g/polybag, 600 g/polybag, and 900 g/polybag) and the second factor was foliar fertilizer (0 g/l of water, 2 g/l of water, 4 g/l of water and 6 g/l of water). The result showed that compost was giving significant effect on diameter of stem 8 weeks after transplanting, length of the sand leaf, width of the sand leaf, length of the feet leaf I, width of the feet leaf I, length of the feet leaf II, width of the feet leaf II, and root volume. Foliar fertilizer and both of interaction were not giving significant effect on all parameters.
