Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of various doses of coffee peel compost and NPK fertilizer on the growth and production of sorghum. This research was conducted on Harmonika Baru Street, Padang Bulan Selayang II, Medan Selayang District, Medan, with an altitude of ± 25 meters above sea level, starting from March to June 2023. This study used a factorial randomized block design with 2 factors: The first factor was the dosage of using coffee peel compost with 4 levels, namely: P0: control, P1: 3.5 kg/plot, P2: 7 kg/plot, P3: 10.5 kg/plot. The second factor was the dose of NPK Mutiara 16-16-16 with 2 levels, namely: N0: Control, N1: 20 g/planting hole. The results showed that the application of coffee peel compost had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height 5 – 6 WAP, number of leaves 7 – 9 WAP, flowering age and wet stover weight of sorghum. The application of NPK Mutiara 16-16-16 had a significant effect on the parameters of plant height 5 – 9 WAP, number of leaves 5 – 9 WAP, flowering age and wet stover weight of sorghum. The interaction of coffee peel compost and Mutiara 16-16-16 NPK fertilizer had no significant effect on all observation parameters.
