This study aims to know about growth and production of several okra varieties by giving water hyacinth compost . This study was conducted in the land research of Agriculture Faculty USU (± 25 m asl) from April-Agustus 2017 using Factorial Randomized Block Design (RAK) with 3 times repetition. The first factor were water hyacinth compost (0, 100 g, 200 g, and 300 g/polybag) and the second factor are the okra plant varieties (Garibar, Red burgundy, and Zahira IPB). The observed parameters were the plant height, leaf amount, diameter of stem, number of fruit, length of the fruit, diameter of fruit, fresh weights of fruit per plant, dry weight of crown, and dry weight of roots. The results of this study showed that the water hyacinth compost were giving significant effect on the dry weight of roots, number of fruit and fresh weights of fruit per plant. The varieties giving sicnificant effect on the diameter of stem, number of fruit, diameter of fruit and fresh weight of fruit per plant. Interaction of both giving sicnificant effect for leaf amount (2-6 WAP) and diameter of stem.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pertumbuhan dan produksi beberapa varietas tanaman okra dengan pemberian kompos eceng gondok. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di lahan penelitian Fakultas Pertanian USU (± 25 m dpl) pada bulan April-Agustus 2017 menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK) faktorial dengan tiga ulangan. Faktor pertama dosis kompos eceng gondok (0, 100 g, 200 g, dan 300 g/polibag) serta faktor kedua varietas tanaman okra (Garibar, Red burgundy, dan Zahira IPB). Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, bobot kering tajuk, dan bobot kering akar, jumlah buah per tanaman, panjang buah, diameter buah, bobot buah segar per tanaman. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan kompos eceng gondok berpengaruh nyata terhadap bobot kering akar, jumlah buah dan bobot segar buah per tanaman. Perlakuan varietas berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang, jumlah buah per tanaman, diameter buah, dan bobot segar buah per tanaman. Interaksi pemberian kompos eceng gondok dan beberapa varietas berpengaruh nyata pada diameter batang.
