Distribution of Clay Mineral in Tambunan A, Field Experimental of Universitas of Sumatera Utara at Salapian Sub-district, Langkat Regency. This research was conducted in Tambunan A, Field Experimental of Universitas Sumatera Utara at Salapian Sub-district, Langkat Regency. Laboratory analysis was conducted at PT. Socfindo Medan and Educational Laboratory of Industrial Chemical Technology Medan. The research was conducted from March 2017 until October 2017. The analysis of clay minerals using Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) tools on 5 soil profiles determined by slopes. The result showed that the profile I has 4 horizon layers of Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, and Bw horizon, Profile II has 6 horizon layers Ap1, Ap2, Bw1, Bw2, Bw3, and BC, Profile III has 5 horizon layers ie Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, Bw1, and Bw2, Profile IV has 5 horizon layers of Ap, Apw, Bw1, Bw2, and Bw3 and Profile V has 6 horizon layers Ap1, Ap2, Ap3, Bw1, Bw2, and Bw3. DTA analysis results showed that the clay mineral species contained allophane-a, and kaolinite. Alofan-a and kaolinite were present in all horizon layers in all profiles whereas gibsit was not on all layers of soil horizon.
Distribusi Mineral Liat Tanah di Kebun Percobaan Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU) Tambunan A, Kecamatan Salapian, Kabupaten Langkat. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Kebun Percobaan USU Tambunan A, Kecamatan Salapian, Kabupaten Langkat. Analisis Laboratorium dilakukan di Laboratorium PT. Socfindo Medan dan Laboratorium Pendidikan Teknologi Kimia Industri Medan. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan Maret 2017 sampai Oktober 2017. Analisis mineral liat menggunakan alat Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA) pada 5 profil tanah yang ditentukan berdasarkan kelerengan lahan. Hasil pengamatan menunjukkan bahwa Profil I memiliki 4 lapisan horizon yaitu horizon Ap1,Ap2,Ap3, dan Bw, Profil II memiliki 6 lapisan horizon yaituAp1,Ap2,Bw1,Bw2,Bw3, dan BC, Profil IIImemiliki 5 lapisan horizon yaitu Ap1,Ap2,Ap3,Bw1, dan Bw2 , Profil IV memiliki 5 lapisan horizon yaitu Ap,Apw,Bw1,Bw2, dan Bw3, Profil Vmemiliki 6 lapisan horizon yaitu Ap1,Ap2,Ap3,Bw1,Bw2,dan Bw3. Hasil analisis DTA menunjukkan jenis mineral liat yang terkandung adalah alofan-a, gibsit dan kaolinit. Alofan-a dan kaolinit terdapat pada seluruh lapisan horizon pada seluruh profil sedangkan gibsit tidak terdapat pada seluruh lapisan horizon tanah.
