Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhiza (VAM) is a fungus that symbiosis with plant roots. VAM can be found in almost 80 plant species. This research aimed to examine the potential of VAM isolated from several plant rhizosphere on the growth and nutrient uptake of the maize plant (Zea mays L.). Mycorrhizal isolates were collected from roots of ginger, bangle, turmeric and oil palm crop planted on Spodosol soil. The experimental design used Randomized Block Design with 8 treatments, were various mycorrhizal isolates and 3 replications. This research was conducted at a greenhouse and laboratory. The potency of mycorrhizal isolates was tested on maize plants on Inceptisol soil. The results showed that the application of mycorrhizal isolates from oil palm roots increased maize growth (plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves and root dry weight) and NPK nutrient uptake higher than control and the other mycorrhizal treatments.
Mikoriza Vesikular Arbuskular (MVA) merupakan jamur yang bersimbiosis dengan akar tanaman, yang dapat ditemukan lebih dari 80 spesies tanaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menguji potensi isolat MVA yang berasal dari beberapa rizosfer tanaman terhadap pertumbuhan dan serapan hara pada tanaman jagung (Zea mays L.). Pada penelitian ini isolat MVA yang digunakan diisolasi dari perakaran tanaman temulawak, bangle, kunyit dan kelapa sawit yang tumbuh di tanah Spodosol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan satu faktor perlakuan yaitu berbagai jenis isolat MVA dengan 8 jenis perlakuan dan 3 ulangan. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di rumah kassa dan laboratorium. Potensi isolat MVA ini diuji pada tanaman jagung di tanah Inseptisol. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pemberian isolat MVA asal perakaran kelapa sawit dapat meningkatkan pertumbuhan tanaman (tinggi tanaman,diameter batang, jumlah daun dan bobot kering akar tanaman) dan serapan hara NPK yang lebih baik dibandingkan dengan kontrol dan jenis isolat lainnya.
