Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penanaman pohon gaharu, damar dan meranti pada lahan perkebunan karet terhadap sifat biologi tanah di Kecamatan Bohorok Kabupaten Langkat serta untuk melihat pengaruh tanaman sela yang terbaik pada lahan perkebunan karet tersebut. Penelitian dilakukan di Lahan Perkebunan Karet di Desa Batu Jonjong dan Desa Timbang Lawan pada bulan Februari 2016 sampai Juni 2016. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei analisis deskriptif dengan teknik sampling berdasarkan metode purposive sampling. Perlakuan tanaman yang digunakan yaitu : kontrol yaitu karet tanpa tanaman sela (K0), karet dengan tanaman sela gaharu (K1), karet dengan tanaman sela damar (K2) dan karet dengan tanaman sela meranti (K3). Parameter yang diukur yaitu C – Organik, N – Total, C/N, total mikroba, respirasi tanah, makrofauna tanah dan cacing tanah. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penanaman gaharu, damar dan meranti memberikan pengaruh terhadap perbaikan sifat biologi tanah pada lahan perkebunan karet serta tanaman sela yang terbaik memberikan pengaruh terhadap perbaikan sifat biologi tanah adalah karet dengan tanaman sela damar (K2).
The objectives of the research ware to study the effect of Gaharu, Damar, and Meranti wood planting on rubber plantation site over soil biological properties in District Bohorok Langkat as well as to see the effect of the best tree for land space in rubber plantation. Research conducted at Land of Rubber Plantation in the village of Batu Jonjong and Timbang Lawang in February 2016 until June 2016. This research used survey descriptive method by purposive sampling method. Sampling chosen for: control as rubber without intercrops (K0), rubber trees intercrops with Gaharu (K1), rubber trees intercrops with Damar (K2) and rubber trees intercrops with Meranti (K3). The measured parameters ware organic C, total N, C/N, microbes total, soil respiration, soil macrofauna and earthworms. The results showed that planting gaharu, damar and meranti gave effect improvement of biological properties in rubber plantation and the best tree for land space in rubber plantation was rubber with Damar trees (K2).
