The Appearance of Agronomic Character of Red Rice Variety of Inpago 7 and White Rice Variety of Towuti

Abstract

Rice is the staple food for excessive society in Indonesia. Red rice is a staple food that has high health value because of its anthocyanin substance. Red rice is common posses low yields, long age, easily falls and has a high plant's accidence therefore the farmers not interested in cultivations. One of the plain method with the low expense to obtain rice with recent variety is hybridization. The appearance of the parent's character is very important prior to commencing a hybridization. The research aims to determine the appearance of the agronomic character of the red rice variety of Inpago 7 and the white rice variety of Towuti. The research was carried out in the gauze house of Padang Bulan Medan, Indonesia with ± 32 altitudes above sea level which was held in July 2018 to January 2019. The research used a block randomized design with 1 factor is genotype consists of red rice variety of Inpago 7 and white rice variety of Towuti. The results showed that the red rice variety of Inpago 7 is superior to the character of high plants and the number of clumps productive. The white rice variety of Towuti is superior to the character of age flowering, the contains of unhulled paddy and weights 1000 grains seeds
