Abstract

This research aims to know the effect of compost brown algae and vegetable waste compost in various conditions of ultisol soil field watering and upland rice growth. This research was held in greenhouse of college of Agriculture USU in Agustus 2018 – November  2018, This research used  a Randomized Block Design (RBD) Non Factorial with nine treatment and three replications that are twenty- seven experimental units. The parameters observed were : pH of soil, C- organic of soil, N of soil, C/N of soil, plant height, number of tillers, dry weight of plant and dry weight of root. The results showed that application of giving  brown algae compost and  vegetable waste compost is different very significantly improved soil pH, C- organic of soil, N of soil, C/N of soil, plant height, dry weight of plant and dry weight of root. Brown algae composting better than vegetable waste compost to the soil pH, N of soil, plant height, dry weight of plant and dry weight of root. Water content of 100% of field capacity is better for upland rice growth.
