Peer Review Process
All manuscripts submitted to the International Journal of Culture and Art Studies (IJCAS) undergo a rigorous peer-review process consisting of two main stages: pre-review and substantive double-blind peer review.
The pre-review stage is conducted by the editorial team to assess the manuscript’s conformity with the journal’s aims and scope, writing style, and author guidelines. At this stage, the editor also conducts a plagiarism check using Turnitin to ensure the originality of the submission. Only original manuscripts that have not been previously published and meet the journal’s basic requirements are forwarded to the next stage.
Manuscripts that pass the pre-review stage are then subjected to a double-blind peer review process, in which the identities of both authors and reviewers are concealed to ensure objectivity and impartiality. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field. Reviewers evaluate the manuscript based on academic quality, originality, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal’s scope, and contribution to the field of culture and art studies.
The review process typically takes approximately 8–10 weeks. Reviewers may recommend acceptance, revision (minor or major), or rejection. If revisions are required, authors are expected to revise their manuscripts according to the reviewers’ comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the reviewers for further evaluation if deemed necessary. The submission of a revised manuscript does not guarantee acceptance.
The final decision regarding publication is made by the Editor, under the authority of the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ recommendations. Accepted manuscripts may be published online as Articles in Press prior to their inclusion in a scheduled issue.
