About the Journal

International Journal of Cultural and Art Studies (IJCAS)—published online under the title International Journal of Culture and Art Studies and in print as International Journal of Cultural and Art Studies—is an academic, open-access, and peer-reviewed journal established in 2018 by Talenta Publisher in collaboration with the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia.

IJCAS is dedicated to advancing scholarly conversations in humanities, particularly those rooted in or connected to the Indonesian context. Since its inception, the journal has served as a vibrant platform for presenting, analyzing, and critiquing original research that challenges boundaries, fosters interdisciplinary dialogue, and enriches the global understanding of culture, language, literature, and history.

IJCAS accepts only original research articles and book reviews that have not been previously published nor are under consideration elsewhere.


Publication Frequency

IJCAS publishes two issues per year, in April and October.
Submissions are accepted throughout the year. Before submitting, authors are kindly requested to ensure that their manuscripts:

  • fit the journal’s focus and scope,

  • are written in English, and

  • follow the Author Guidelines provided on the journal’s website.


Open Access Policy

IJCAS is committed to promoting the free and global exchange of knowledge. All articles are published under an open-access model, providing immediate and unrestricted access to readers worldwide.

Peer Review Process

To ensure academic rigor and integrity, all submissions undergo a double-blind peer review, where both authors and reviewers remain anonymous. Prior to review, each manuscript is screened for plagiarism using Turnitin software. Manuscripts with plagiarism indications are rejected outright.

The Editorial Board makes acceptance decisions based on reviewers’ evaluations. Communication regarding rejected manuscripts is limited to formal notifications, and the editors retain the right to request professional proofreading or editing when necessary. Manuscripts that do not meet the required academic and linguistic standards may be declined.


Author Fees

To support high-quality editorial management and publication services, IJCAS implements the following Article Processing Charges (APC):

  • International Authors (outside Indonesia): Free of charge

  • Indonesian Authors: IDR 500,000

  • Fast Track Review Service: IDR 800,000
    (Fast Track accelerates the review process but does not guarantee acceptance.)

There are no submission fees.
