About the Journal

International Journal of Culture and Art Studies (online) or International Journal of Cultural and Art Studies (print), abbreviated as IJCAS is an academic, open access, and peer-reviewed journal founded and first published in 2018 by Talenta Publisher & the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Sumatera Utara, Indonesia. 

Focus and Scope

Focusing on culture, language, and literature as viewed from the Indonesian perspective, IJCAS provides a platform for the presentation, analysis, and criticism of provocative work, publishing articles that transcend disciplines and advance the study of humanities.

Publication Frequency

Issues are published two times per year (in April and October). Submissions are open year-round. However, before submitting, please ensure that the manuscript fits within IJCAS's focus and scope, and is written in English and follows our author guidelines. Please note that only research articles or book review are accepted.

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Peer Review Process

IJCAS aims to publish academic articles that uncover new depths in the study of humanities. These articles should be able to contribute to and advance our current understanding of culture, language, and literature with a sound scientific basis. To ensure this, we employ a double-blind review, which means that both the reviewers' and authors' identities are concealed from each other throughout the review process. The editorial boards will decide the acceptance or rejection of articles based on the review results supplied by the reviewers. There are no communications between authors and editors concerning the rejection decision. Before reviewing the process, all manuscripts will be checked that they are free from plagiarism to practise using "Turnitin" software. If there is an indication of plagiarism, the manuscript will instantly be rejected. Authors whose papers are rejected will be informed of the reasons for the rejection.

The editors reserve the right to suggest that the authors have their manuscripts proofread and edited by professional proofreaders and decline manuscripts whose authors do not comply with the editors' suggestions.

Author Fees

Authors are free of charge throughout the process, including article submission, review and editing, and publication.
