KomunikA follows the authorship criteria recommended by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) and the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). Authorship credit should be given only to those who meet all four of the following criteria:
Contributors who do not meet the criteria. Individuals who contributed in other ways, such as providing technical help, language editing, data collection only, funding acquisition only, or general supervision, should be listed in the Acknowledgements section rather than as authors.
Corresponding author. The corresponding author handles all communication with the journal during submission, peer review, and publication. The corresponding author must ensure that all listed co-authors have approved the final manuscript and agreed to its submission.
Author contribution statement. Manuscripts with more than one author should include a brief statement describing each author's contribution, preferably using the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy) categories.
Changes to authorship. Any addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names must be requested before the article is accepted. The request must be sent by the corresponding author, state the reason for the change, and include written agreement from all authors. Changes after acceptance are made only in exceptional circumstances and at the Editor's discretion.
Artificial intelligence tools. Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors, because they cannot take responsibility for the work. Use of such tools must be disclosed in accordance with the journal's Generative AI Policy.
Authorship disputes. Disputes about authorship are handled following COPE flowcharts. The journal does not adjudicate disputes between authors; when necessary, the matter will be referred to the authors' institutions.
