Publication Ethics and Malpractice Statement

Publication Ethics

KORIDOR adheres to the COPE Core Practices and Best Practice Guidelines. Editorial decisions are made by the Editor-in-Chief on the basis of scholarly merit and relevance, independent of authors’ race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnicity, citizenship, political views, or commercial considerations (including advertising, reprints, or APCs). All submissions undergo rigorous double-blind peer review. Editors and editorial staff keep manuscripts confidential, declare and manage conflicts of interest, and recuse themselves where appropriate. Reviewers provide objective, timely evaluations, maintain confidentiality, identify relevant prior work, and do not use unpublished material for personal research; they must also decline reviews where conflicts exist. Authors must ensure originality, accurate reporting, proper citation and permissions, avoidance of duplicate/redundant submission, disclosure of funding and conflicts, appropriate authorship (e.g., CRediT roles), necessary ethics approvals for human/animal studies, and—where feasible—data availability; generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors and any permitted use must be transparently disclosed. Submissions may be screened with similarity-checking tools (e.g., Turnitin/iThenticate); alleged misconduct (plagiarism, fabrication/falsification, image manipulation, authorship disputes) is investigated in line with COPE flowcharts, with outcomes that may include rejection or retraction. Corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern are issued as needed to preserve the scholarly record. Complaints and appeals are handled fairly and promptly via the Editorial Office, while the publisher supports editorial independence, long-term archiving, and record integrity.

This statement clarifies ethical behavior by parties involved in the act of manuscript publication in Journal Koridor, which is managed by the The Talenta Publisher of Universitas Sumatera Utara.

Duty and Obligation of the Reviewer

Manuscripts submitted to KORIDOR undergo a double-blind peer-review process in which expert reviewers provide evaluations that inform the editors’ publication decisions. Reviewers are expected to deliver timely, objective, and evidence-based assessments; if they cannot meet the deadline, they should notify the editor promptly so that an alternative reviewer can be assigned to keep publication on schedule. All submissions are treated as confidential, discussed only with the editorial team (and the authors via the editor as appropriate), and any privileged information or ideas obtained through review may not be used for personal advantage. Reviews should adhere to professional standards, offering respectful, clear reasoning and pointing out relevant prior literature that has not been cited or has been cited inaccurately, with attention to the validity and currency of sources. Reviewers must disclose any conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with authors, institutions, or funders and decline the review when such conflicts exist.

Duties and Obligation of the Author

Authors must present accurate, verifiable work with appropriate citations and references, ensuring that all data and statements are reliable and free from falsification or intentional inaccuracy. Upon request, authors should provide timely access to underlying data and information to facilitate editorial and peer review. Submissions must be original; the use of others’ words, data, or ideas requires proper citation, and plagiarism of any kind will result in rejection. Manuscripts under consideration by KORIDOR must not be submitted concurrently to other journals, nor should substantially similar work be published redundantly. All sources must be duly acknowledged, and authorship is limited to individuals who made significant contributions to the research; corresponding authors should keep all co-authors informed throughout review, and, upon acceptance, all authors must confirm the work’s originality. Any use of hazardous materials, or research involving human participants or animals, must be clearly identified in the manuscript and accompanied by the necessary ethics approvals and statements of consent, as applicable. All authors must disclose funding sources and any potential conflicts of interest. If a significant error is discovered in a published article, the author must promptly notify the editor or publisher and cooperate in issuing a correction or retraction.
