History Journal

Sumatera Medical Journal (SUMEJ) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal in medical sciences published by the Faculty of Medicine Universitas Sumatera Utara and managed by TALENTA Publisher. The journal provides a platform for the dissemination of research findings in medical and health sciences, particularly non-communicable diseases, ranging from basic biomolecular sciences to clinical sciences, including cancer research, tissue engineering, stem cell research, and other related health fields.

SUMEJ was first established in 2017 with the publication of its inaugural issue. In 2018, the journal published one issue and further developed its electronic open-access publishing system. Since 2019, SUMEJ has consistently increased its publication frequency to three issues per year, published in January, May, and September. This publication schedule has been maintained continuously in 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and subsequent years.

SUMEJ is published entirely in an online format and adopts an open-access policy to facilitate the wide dissemination of scientific knowledge among academics, researchers, clinicians, and healthcare professionals. The journal accepts original research articles, review articles, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, as well as case reports.

SUMEJ is committed to maintaining high standards of scholarly publishing through a rigorous peer-review process, adherence to publication ethics, transparency in editorial management, and continuous efforts to improve the visibility and accessibility of published articles.
