Journal of Environmental and Development Studies

The Journal of Environmental and Development Studies (JEDS) is a peer-reviewed academic journal published by TALENTA, the official publisher of Universitas Sumatera Utara, and managed by the university's Postgraduate School. The journal is published biannually in March and September and primarily features scholarly articles in English that meet both national and international standards of scientific publication.

JEDS serves as an academic platform for students, researchers, academics, and practitioners to disseminate original research articles and critical review papers in the fields of environmental studies and sustainable development. The journal encourages interdisciplinary approaches that address complex interactions between environmental systems, socio-economic development, and policy frameworks. 

All published articles are freely accessible through its open-access platform (E-ISSN: 2745-4592), ensuring broad dissemination and knowledge exchange without barriers. Published articles are indexed in major academic databases, including Google Scholar and the Indonesian Publication Index (Garuda). Significantly, the journal has been officially accredited at the SINTA 3 level by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, pursuant to Decree No. 156/C/C3/KPT/2026, issued on April 7, 2026. This accreditation is valid for 5 years and reflects the journal’s recognized quality in editorial management, peer-review rigor, and scholarly contribution.

JEDS accepts submissions exclusively in English to ensure accessibility and engagement with a global academic audience. All manuscripts must be written in clear and academically appropriate English that meets international publication standards. In line with its commitment to advancing scientific knowledge, JEDS upholds a rigorous peer-review process and adheres to established ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
