Correction and Retraction

Jurnal Teknik Kimia USU is committed to maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and permanent reliability of its scholarly record. Corrections, retractions, and expressions of concern are handled in accordance with recognized international publication ethics standards, including relevant COPE guidelines.

Corrections

A correction may be issued when errors are identified in a published article but do not invalidate or substantially alter its main findings or conclusions. Such errors may include calculation errors, missing citations, errors in the text, author name spelling, affiliations, or other publication details. Corrections will be clearly linked to the original article and the published record will be updated appropriately.

Retractions

An article may be retracted when there is clear evidence that its main findings are unreliable, invalid, or cannot be adequately supported, or when serious research or publication misconduct is identified. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to, plagiarism, duplicate or double publication/submission, fabrication or falsification of data, or other serious ethical violations.

Retracted articles will remain accessible in the journal's archive but will be clearly marked as “RETRACTED”. A formal retraction notice will be published and permanently linked to the original article, stating the reason for the retraction.

Expression of Concern

An Expression of Concern may be issued when substantial concerns have been raised regarding a published article, but the available evidence is insufficient to justify retraction, or when an investigation into potential research or publication misconduct is still ongoing. An Expression of Concern may remain associated with the article until the matter is resolved.

Withdrawal Before Publication

Authors may request withdrawal of a manuscript before publication by contacting the editorial office. The Editor-in-Chief may assess the request and determine the appropriate action based on the circumstances and applicable editorial policies.

Ethical Investigation

When concerns regarding research or publication ethics arise, the editorial team may request clarification or supporting information from the authors and, when necessary, contact relevant institutions or other appropriate parties. Such cases will be handled fairly, confidentially, and in accordance with applicable COPE guidelines and recognized international publication ethics standards.

The journal reserves the right to take appropriate corrective or editorial action when necessary to protect the integrity of the scholarly record.
