Post-Publication Discussion
The journal recognizes that questions, concerns, or potential scientific issues may arise after an article has been published. The journal therefore provides a formal mechanism for addressing such concerns and maintaining the accuracy, transparency, and integrity of the published scientific record.
Raising Post-Publication Concerns: Readers who have questions, concerns, or potential scientific issues regarding a published article are encouraged, where appropriate, to first contact the corresponding author to seek clarification. If the concern involves a substantive scientific issue, cannot be adequately resolved through communication with the author, or requires editorial consideration, the reader may contact the journal.
Editorial Assessment: Upon receiving a concern, the Editor will conduct an initial assessment to determine whether the matter has a reasonable scientific basis and warrants further consideration. Where appropriate, the Editor may ask the concerned reader to develop the concern into a formal Comment or Scientific Report, supported by clear scientific reasoning, relevant evidence, and appropriate references.
Scientific Review and Author Response: A formal Comment or Scientific Report accepted for further consideration may be subject to peer review. The authors of the original article will be given an opportunity to provide a Response/Rebuttal. To ensure an objective assessment, the Comment and the authors' response may be evaluated by independent and anonymous reviewers. The Editor will consider the submitted materials and reviewers' recommendations when making the final editorial decision.
Corrections and Retractions: If the post-publication assessment identifies errors, inaccuracies, or other issues that affect the reliability of the published article, the journal may publish an appropriate correction, revision, or retraction, depending on the nature and significance of the issue. All such actions will be undertaken to preserve the accuracy and integrity of the scientific record.
Constructive Scholarly Communication: The journal supports constructive and evidence-based communication concerning published research. Post-publication concerns and discussions should be presented objectively, professionally, and with appropriate scientific justification. The journal does not consider unsupported allegations or personal criticism to constitute a formal scientific comment.
