Journal History

TROPHICO: Tropical Public Health J. is a peer-reviewed, biannual journal (published in March and September) managed by the Faculty of Public Health, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Indonesia, and published by TALENTA Publisher using the Online Journal System (OJS). TROPHICO aims to serve as a scientific platform for researchers, academics, and practitioners to share scientific developments in preventive and promotive measures to enhance public health through a scientific approach.

The journal publishes original research articles covering topics: Epidemiology, Health Policy and Administration, Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Health Education and Behavioral Sciences, Public Health Nutrition, Biostatistics and Demography, and Family and Reproductive Health.

TROPHICO was first published in March 2021, with each issue initially containing seven (7) research articles published online. By the current editorial policy, starting from September 2025 (Volume 5, No. 2), the number of articles per issue will increase to ten (10). In addition, as part of the journal’s internationalization initiative set to begin in September 2025, all articles will be published in English.

TROPHICO has been accredited by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology as SINTA 4 in 2022 and has published coverage articles since 2021. The journal employs a peer-review mechanism, in which each article submitted is anonymously reviewed by expert peers appointed by the Editor.
