Friction, wear, and corrosion critically affect the durability and reliability of metallic components in engineering and marine environments. Despite the established potential of reduced graphene oxide (rGO), nanochitosan, and silicone oil, their combined contribution within a multifunctional surface treatment remains insufficiently established. Here, an rGO/nanochitosan-reinforced silicone oil (PDMS) formulation was developed and assessed on aluminium and copper substrates through X-ray diffraction (XRD), surface roughness, coefficient of friction (CoF), wear rate, and corrosion rate measurements. XRD revealed rGO reflections at 2θ = 26.3° and 43.1° and nanochitosan reflections at 10.1° and 20.1°, with apparent crystallite sizes of 6.54–9.87 nm. The formulation containing 0.3 wt% rGO exhibited the most favorable response, lowering surface roughness, CoF, wear rate, and corrosion rate by approximately 40, 90, 86, and 90%, respectively, relative to uncoated surfaces. These findings establish a structure–performance relationship in the ternary rGO/nanochitosan/PDMS system, highlighting the role of optimized reinforcement content in achieving balanced tribological and corrosion resistance. The developed approach offers practical potential for metallic components operating under coupled mechanical and corrosive conditions.
