Pineapple peel (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr) is an abundant agricultural waste in Riau Province and is rich in bioactive compounds such as flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and bromelain with anti-inflammatory agent. This study aimed to formulate and evaluate a lotion containing the ethanolic extract of pineapple peel as a topical anti-inflammatory agent, with the addition of Aloe vera gel as an excipient. The extract was obtained through a maceration method using 70% ethanol as a solvent. The lotion formulation was carried out with four variations: blank formula (F0), formula with 5% pineapple peel extract (F1), formula with 5% pineapple peel extract and 2% Aloe vera gel (F2), and formula with 5% pineapple peel extract and 4% Aloe vera gel (F3). The evaluation included organoleptic tests, homogeneity, pH, spreadability, adhesion, irritation, stability (cycling test), and viscosity. The result demonstrated that ethanolic extract of pineapple peel was successfully formulated into a stable lotion that fulfilled the quality requirements for topical preparations. The addition of Aloe vera affects the color of the preparation and contributes to the good physical characteristics of the lotion.
