Journal History

Jurnal Online Pertanian Tropik (JOPT) is a peer-reviewed scientific journal established in 2014 under the management of the Postgraduate Program, Faculty of Agriculture, Universitas Sumatera Utara (USU), Medan, Indonesia. The journal serves as an academic platform for disseminating original research articles and scientific reviews in tropical agriculture and related agricultural sciences.

In 2018, JOPT obtained national accreditation at Rank 4 (SINTA 4) under Decree No. 21/E/KPT/2018, issued by the Directorate General for Research Strengthening and Development, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, on July 9, 2018. The accreditation covered publications from Volume 3, Number 1 (2016) to Volume 7, Number 2 (2020), marking an important milestone in the journal's development.

Beginning with Volume 6, Number 3 (2019), JOPT migrated to the TALENTA Publisher platform at Universitas Sumatera Utara to strengthen its editorial management, publication workflow, and online accessibility through Open Journal Systems (OJS).

Since its establishment, JOPT has maintained a publication schedule of three issues annually (April, August, and December), providing a scholarly forum for researchers, academics, and agricultural practitioners to exchange scientific knowledge and contribute to the advancement of tropical agricultural research.
