Open Access Policy

Jurnal Online Pertanian Tropik (JOPT) is a peer-reviewed, open-access scientific journal published by TALENTA Publisher, Universitas Sumatera Utara. JOPT is committed to the free and unrestricted dissemination of scientific knowledge in agriculture and related disciplines to support research, education, innovation, and the global exchange of knowledge.

1. Immediate Open Access

JOPT provides immediate open access to all published articles. The full text of every published article is freely accessible to readers worldwide without subscription fees, registration requirements, or payment barriers. No embargo period is imposed on published articles.

This policy reflects the principles of the Budapest Open Access Initiative (BOAI), which promotes the free availability and responsible reuse of scholarly literature.

2. Rights of Readers and Users

Under JOPT's open-access policy, readers and users are permitted to:

  • Read and download full-text articles without charge.
  • Copy, print, and distribute published articles in accordance with the applicable Creative Commons license.
  • Search, link to, and reference published articles for scholarly, educational, and other lawful purposes.
  • Share and adapt published material, including for commercial purposes, provided the license conditions are satisfied.
  • Use published research for further scientific investigation, teaching, and knowledge dissemination with appropriate attribution.

3. Creative Commons Licensing

All articles published in JOPT are distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

This license permits users to share, reproduce, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon published materials, including for commercial purposes, subject to the following conditions:

  • Attribution: Appropriate credit must be given to the original authors, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes must be indicated.
  • ShareAlike: Adapted material must be distributed under the same license as the original work.
  • No Additional Restrictions: Users may not impose legal or technological restrictions that prevent others from exercising the permissions granted by the license.

4. Copyright Retention and First Publication Rights

Authors retain the copyright of their published works and grant JOPT a non-exclusive right of first publication. Authors may distribute and reuse their published works in accordance with the CC BY-SA 4.0 license, provided that the original publication in JOPT is properly acknowledged.

5. Open Access and Publication Charges

Any applicable article processing charges or publication fees are governed by the journal's separately published Author Fee policy.

6. Commitment to Open Scholarly Communication
