Copyright and License

Jurnal Online Pertanian Tropik (JOPT) is an open-access scholarly journal published by TALENTA Publisher, Universitas Sumatera Utara. JOPT supports the dissemination of scientific knowledge while protecting authors' copyright and promoting the responsible reuse of published research.

Copyright and Licensing

Authors retain the copyright of their articles and grant Jurnal Online Pertanian Tropik (JOPT) the non-exclusive right of first publication. All published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 4.0 International License (CC BY-SA 4.0).

Under this license, users are free to:

  • Share: Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format, including for commercial purposes.
  • Adapt: Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercially.

These permissions are subject to the following conditions:

  • Attribution: Appropriate credit must be given to the original authors, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes must be indicated.
  • ShareAlike: Adaptations must be distributed under the same license as the original work.
  • No Additional Restrictions: Users may not apply legal terms or technological measures that restrict others from exercising the rights granted by the license.

Authors may enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of their work, provided that its original publication in JOPT is properly acknowledged and the terms of the CC BY-SA 4.0 license are respected.

Publishing Agreement and Statement of Originality

To ensure the integrity of scholarly publication and compliance with the journal's copyright and publication ethics policies, authors are required to complete the following documents:

  • Publishing Agreement & Statement of Originality (downloadable [here]), which grants the journal the non-exclusive right of first publication while allowing authors to retain copyright. This agreement also confirms the originality of the manuscript, authorship responsibilities, disclosure of conflicts of interest, and compliance with publication ethics.
  • Manuscript Originality and Plagiarism Ethics Statement (downloadable [here]), which confirms that the manuscript is original, has not been simultaneously submitted to another journal, and complies with plagiarism prevention, ethical research practices, authorship approval, and acknowledgment of funding sources.

By submitting a manuscript to JOPT, authors acknowledge and agree to comply with the journal's copyright, licensing, and publication ethics policies. Authors are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions for copyrighted materials included in their manuscripts.
