Peer Review Process
The Journal of Civil Engineering and Public Infrastructure Management (JCE-PIM) implements a double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, originality, and academic integrity of all published articles. Both the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous throughout the evaluation process to maintain objectivity and fairness.
All submitted manuscripts will first undergo an initial editorial screening to verify compliance with the journal’s scope, format, and ethical standards, including plagiarism checks using Turnitin or equivalent software. Manuscripts that meet the preliminary requirements will then be assigned to at least two independent reviewers with relevant expertise in the field.
Each reviewer is asked to evaluate the manuscript based on the following criteria:
- Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
- Originality and contribution to knowledge.
- Technical soundness and methodological rigor.
- Clarity of presentation and organization.
- Accuracy and appropriateness of references.
The review process generally takes four to eight weeks, depending on reviewer availability and the quality of the submission. Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:
- Accept without revision.
- Accept with minor revisions.
- Reconsider after major revisions.
- Reject.
Authors will be informed of the editorial decision along with the reviewers’ comments for necessary revision. Revised manuscripts must be resubmitted within the specified timeframe, accompanied by a detailed response letter addressing each reviewer’s comment.
The final decision on publication rests with the Editor-in-Chief, based on the reviewers’ recommendations and the editorial board’s assessment. Once accepted, manuscripts proceed to copyediting, layout editing, and final proofreading before publication.
The peer review process is conducted in accordance with the ethical standards of TALENTA Publisher, Universitas Sumatera Utara.
