Plagiarism Policy
The Journal of Civil Engineering and Public Infrastructure Management (JCE-PIM) strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism and academic misconduct. Submitted manuscripts must represent the author’s own original work and must not contain content copied or derived from previously published materials without proper citation or acknowledgment.
All manuscripts submitted to JCE-PIM are subject to plagiarism screening using reliable similarity detection software such as Turnitin or equivalent tools, as part of the initial editorial assessment. The similarity index must not exceed 20%, excluding references, quotations, and commonly used terminologies. Manuscripts exceeding this threshold or showing patterns of plagiarism will be immediately rejected or returned to the authors for revision.
Plagiarism includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, data, tables, or figures from other sources without appropriate attribution.
- Paraphrasing substantial portions of another author’s work without proper citation.
- Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal simultaneously (duplicate submission).
- Republishing previously published work as new research (self-plagiarism).
Authors found to have committed plagiarism, either in part or in full, will face the following actions:
- Rejection of the submitted manuscript.
- Notification to the authors’ affiliated institutions.
- Prohibition from future submissions to JCE-PIM for a specified period.
In cases where plagiarism is detected after publication, the editorial board reserves the right to retract the article from the journal’s online platform and issue an official retraction notice.
JCE-PIM, under TALENTA Publisher, Universitas Sumatera Utara, upholds ethical publication practices and ensures that all published works maintain academic integrity and originality.
